Web Design

What is the difference between a template website and a custom website?
A template website uses a pre-built layout that multiple businesses share. It is faster and cheaper to launch, but limits how unique your site can look and function. A custom website is designed from scratch around your brand, your audience, and your specific business goals. Every page, layout, and interaction is built specifically for you.
Why is website speed important for my business?
Website speed directly affects your search rankings, your bounce rate, and your conversion rate. Google uses page speed as a ranking factor. Studies show that 53% of visitors leave a site that takes more than 3 seconds to load. A fast website keeps visitors engaged and improves every metric that matters.
What is responsive design and why does it matter?
Responsive design means your website automatically adjusts its layout to look and work properly on any screen size, from a phone to a desktop monitor. Over 60% of web traffic comes from mobile devices. If your site is not responsive, you are losing more than half your potential customers.
How often should I update my website?
At minimum, review your website content every 6 to 12 months to make sure information is current, contact details are correct, and your services are accurately represented. Design and functionality should be refreshed every 2 to 3 years to keep pace with evolving web standards and user expectations.
What is WCAG AA accessibility and why should I care?
WCAG AA is a set of international guidelines that ensure websites are usable by people with disabilities, including those using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies. In Ontario, the AODA requires businesses to meet accessibility standards. Beyond compliance, accessible websites reach a wider audience and tend to perform better in search rankings.
Do I own my website after it is built?
Yes. You own the design, the content, and the domain. With Webflow, you also have direct access to edit content through the visual editor. We never hold your website hostage.

AI Integration

Is AI on a website just a trend or is it here to stay?
AI integration is not a trend. Over 2 billion queries happen on ChatGPT every day, and Google now shows AI-generated overviews in more than half of all search results. Businesses that integrate AI into their websites today are building infrastructure that will compound in value as AI adoption grows.
What types of businesses benefit most from AI chatbots?
Service-based businesses that receive frequent inquiries benefit the most. This includes contractors, healthcare providers, real estate agents, legal firms, and any business where potential customers have questions before making contact. If you get the same 10 questions repeatedly, a chatbot handles them instantly so your team can focus on closing deals.
Can an AI chatbot handle complex customer questions?
AI chatbots handle common questions extremely well. For complex or sensitive inquiries, the chatbot collects context and contact information, then routes the conversation to your team with a full summary. The visitor always has a path to a real person.
What is the difference between a rule-based chatbot and an AI chatbot?
A rule-based chatbot follows a fixed script. If the visitor asks something outside the script, it breaks. An AI chatbot uses natural language processing to understand intent and generate contextual responses. It can handle unexpected questions, learn from conversations, and provide a much more natural experience.
Will AI replace my customer service team?
No. AI handles the repetitive, time-consuming interactions so your team can focus on high-value conversations. Think of it as giving your best employee a tireless assistant who handles the first 80% of every inquiry.

Branding

What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
A logo is one element of your brand. A brand identity is the complete system: your logo, colour palette, typography, tone of voice, visual style, and the guidelines that keep everything consistent. A logo tells people who you are. A brand identity tells them what you stand for.
How do I know if my business needs a rebrand?
Common signs include: your brand no longer reflects your services or values, you are embarrassed to hand out your business card, your competitors look more professional than you, your target audience has shifted, or your visual identity is inconsistent across platforms. If any of these resonate, it is worth a conversation.
How long does a branding project take?
A standalone logo design typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. A full brand identity package takes 4 to 6 weeks, including research, concept development, revisions, and final guidelines documentation.
Can you work with a logo I already have?
Yes. If you have a logo you love, we can build a complete brand system around it: colours, typography, voice guidelines, and a brand document. Not every project needs to start from scratch.

Graphic Design

Do you design things other than websites?
Yes. We handle graphic design for digital and print: social media graphics, business cards, brochures, presentation decks, email templates, and other marketing collateral. If it needs to look professional and on-brand, we can design it.
Can you design social media graphics for my business?
Yes. We create branded social media templates and individual graphics for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We can deliver one-off designs or create a library of templates your team can customize.
What file formats do you deliver?
We deliver whatever formats you need. Standard deliverables include SVG and PNG for digital use, PDF for print, and editable source files if you need them. Every logo project includes multiple format options.
Do you design pitch decks or presentations?
Yes. We design professional pitch decks and presentation templates in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides. A well-designed deck can make the difference between winning and losing a pitch.

Marketing

Is SEO still worth investing in?
Absolutely. SEO is still the highest ROI marketing channel for most small businesses. Unlike paid ads, SEO compounds over time. The content and optimization work you invest in today continues to drive traffic for months and years. The landscape is evolving with AI search, which is why we include both traditional SEO and Answer Engine Optimization in every build.
What is the difference between SEO and paid advertising?
SEO earns you organic traffic by improving your search rankings over time. It takes longer to see results but the traffic is free once you rank. Paid advertising (Google Ads, Meta Ads) delivers immediate traffic but stops the moment you stop paying. Most businesses benefit from both, but SEO provides the stronger long-term foundation.
How do I know if my website is actually generating leads?
Analytics. We set up Google Analytics 4, conversion tracking, and event monitoring on every website we build. You will be able to see exactly how many visitors you get, where they come from, what pages they view, and whether they contact you or book a call.
What is local SEO and do I need it?
Local SEO optimizes your online presence to appear in location-based searches like "web designer near me" or "web design Peterborough." If your business serves a specific geographic area, local SEO is essential. It includes your Google Business Profile, local directory listings, location-specific content, and review management.

Social Media

Should my business be on every social media platform?
No. Being on every platform and doing all of them poorly is worse than focusing on one or two and doing them well. Choose platforms where your audience actually spends time. For most B2B businesses, LinkedIn is essential. For consumer-facing brands, Instagram and Facebook tend to perform best.
How often should a small business post on social media?
Consistency matters more than frequency. Three quality posts per week will outperform seven rushed posts. Create a sustainable posting schedule that your team can maintain long-term. Sporadic posting followed by silence does more harm than posting less frequently but reliably.
Can social media actually generate leads for my business?
Yes, but not in the way most people think. Social media rarely drives direct sales for service businesses. Its value is in brand awareness, trust building, and staying top of mind. When someone needs your service, they remember the business that showed up consistently in their feed.
Do I need a social media manager or can I do it myself?
It depends on your capacity and skill set. If you enjoy creating content and have 3 to 5 hours per week to dedicate to it, you can manage your own social media with the right strategy. If social media feels like a chore and keeps getting pushed to the bottom of your to-do list, hiring help is a better use of your time and money.
